Janne Ingvarsson celebrates 50 years with EWES
In 1975, Jan Ingvarsson walked through the doors of EWES for his first day at work. Fifty years later, he's still here – and no one is happier than us. In March 2025, he will begin to wind down, and by summer, retirement awaits. This article is a tribute to Janne and his incredible journey with us. 💙
Janne’s 50-year journey with EWES
“I started at EWES as a 15-year-old helper, working here and there. Over the years, I’ve worked in post-processing, grinding, and hose basket departments. Eventually, I became responsible for 20 colleagues in post-processing – a role that later expanded to multiple departments. Suddenly, I found myself overseeing half of production. Later, I moved into the office as a spring technician and also took on technical sales responsibilities. Today, I am one of our technical sales representatives, and I am probably best known among our customers for leading the Spring Academy for many years.”
From Helper to Spring Guru
– Janne reflects on 50 years at EWES

In 1975, a 15-year-old Jan Ingvarsson stepped into EWES for his first day at work.
Little did he know that he would stay for half a century. But he did – and what a journey it has been! From handwritten work orders to AI, from production to technical sales, and from his early years as a helper to becoming one of EWES' most recognisable faces.
Now, after 50 years in the spring industry, it’s time to wind down. Soon, springs will be swapped for fishing rods and strikes at the bowling alley. But before that, Janne looks back on his time with us.
A Typical Day at Work – From Emails to Engineering
Janne’s workday has changed over the years, but one thing has remained constant: variety.
“The day usually starts with going through emails from customers and colleagues in different time zones. Then it’s a mix of technical questions, assisting with design, and sending out quotes,” he explains.
It’s this variety – and his colleagues – that he has appreciated the most.
“I’ve always had the chance to work with incredibly skilled colleagues. And I’ve witnessed enormous technological advancements – when I started, work orders were handwritten, then came computers, and today, AI is part of our daily lives.”
Three Generations of EWES – The Same Curiosity for Technology
Over his 50 years, Janne has worked under three generations of EWES owners. Despite changing times, he sees a clear common thread.
“All generations have been interested in new technology and eager to try new solutions. I remember when we first got computer-generated work orders, and a mistake had slipped in. Einar Svensson (the founder of EWES) was quick to point out that pen and paper were much better,” he laughs.
But no matter how technology has evolved, one thing has always remained: the sense of unity.
“The great thing about EWES is that when problems arise, EWES always steps up to support.”
Janne’s Best Advice for Enjoying Work at EWES
Fifty years at the same company – surely Janne knows the secret to job satisfaction?
“Being a family-owned company makes a big difference. But most importantly, you need to be flexible and curious. There are many skilled and friendly colleagues here, and if you want to grow, there are great opportunities.”
Favourite Springs and Unforgettable Memories
Over the years, Janne has been involved in many exciting projects. A few favourites stand out.
“The whiplash spring for Volvo’s car seats and the vibration isolators for Husqvarna’s chainsaws are close to my heart. In more recent years, hearing protection components have become another favourite.”
And the memories? There are many, but some moments are hard to forget.
“I remember when one of the owners, Klas, promised his ears to Husqvarna if the parts weren’t delivered correctly. When we later found a few issues, they always asked him: ‘How are your ears doing?’”
Another unforgettable moment was when we drove around on bumpy roads in Trollhättan to test whether our springs in car seats were up to the task!
The Future: Fishing Rods and Bowling Balls
Now, a life beyond the world of springs awaits. And Janne is unlikely to stay idle.
“Fishing takes up a lot of my time – I can easily spend a full workweek on it. Then there’s bowling, which I play at least three times a week.”
If he had to sum up his 50 years at EWES with a song? The choice is unexpected but fitting.
“Pärleporten! We used to sing it as a group at the marketing department, and it has stuck with me.”
Thank you for everything, Janne! 💙
